Here are some of the locks that are installed most often:
Deadbolt Locks
The best locks offered today are deadbolt locks. This lock is the best and most widely used and installed. It’s made of the best materials possible and this is why it is difficult to compromise this type of lock. If you don’t have deadbolt locks on your door, what are you waiting for? Don’t give burglars the invitation to break into your home. Deadbolt locks are not only durable but they are also affordable. With this in mind, you should give serious consideration if you want to protect your home and loved ones. They have a metal bolt that slides directly into the doorjamb. The latch is inside the keyhole and door. There are various types of locks to choose from, including deadbolt locks. There are also some deadbolt locks that you may not be familiar with that you can read about below.
Jimmy Proof Deadbolts – This type of lock is generally installed on double doors. The bolt is attached the doorjamb bracket. It is very difficult for the door lock to be pulled apart. The lock screws inside the door make it difficult for the lock to be compromised.
Single Deadbolts – Deadbolt locks are installed more than any other lock due to its level of durability. A single deadbolt has a thumb turn on the inside with the keyhole on the outside. This locks design and material make it extremely difficult to break. Often, a burglar will not attempt to break a deadbolt due to the amount of pressure and time it takes to break it. They want the route of least resistance.
Double Deadbolts – If you decide that this is the right type of lock for you, you have likely given it some serious consideration. This is because it can become a problematic lock if you are not able to find both keys to unlock the lock. It has a cylinder on both sides but doesn’t have a thumb turn. Some choose this lock because of its quality and durability.
Knob Locks – The majority of the houses we service have knob locks. They are often placed on the garage door, front door, and patio door. The knob can be placed on either side of the door. One side is where the door locks the other keyhole on the opposite side allows you to lock or unlock the door. It would be in your best interest to know where the lock is located before installation. If the doorknob is on the right you will require a right-hand knob. If it is on the left, you need a left-hand knob. Beware of this type of lock; it can easily be broken. Its locking features are on the inside of the knob and can easily be broken with excessive force. This is why this type of lock is not usually installed on the exterior of the home.
Lever Locks – This is the type of lock that we generally install on the interior doors. You can find a lever lock in different styles and colors. Those with disabilities find this type of lock especially useful. They don’t require a key to open the door. All you need to do is twist and push the button on the front of the lock. It is an easy lock to open and this is why it should be installed on the outside of your door. Like the knob lock, we suggest that this lock is only installed on the inside of the door. It shouldn’t be used as a primary lock.
Keyless Locks – Keyless locks are becoming more popular. This lock doesn’t require a key, just the right code. Once you have entered the correct code, the lock will disengage. They might be more expensive but they are useful in avoiding a break in.
There are plenty of locks to choose from. There are different locks both for your doors and windows. Yes, you can place locks on your windows also. This is one area of the home that we notice is often overlooked. If you have a latch on your window and want to maximize your security, consider some of the various locks that are used on windows. You should also consider a lock for your garage door and your patio door. These are also two areas of the house that are often overlooked by most homeowners. Don’t take any unnecessary chances with your safety.
